Our group of nine headed down to Daytona Beach, Fla. on Thursday morning, despite the threat of Hurricane Wilma heading toward the State.
We might get wet, but if Biketoberfest is still going on, we're going. The five guys rode down, 720 mile round trip, as the four ladies headed
down separately in the Suburban. Their trip? Four hours on I-95. Our trip? Between six and seven hours avoiding it.
We rented a four bedroom house on the beach in New Smyrna Beach. It was a really cool place. Chad and William are Biketoberfest veterans,
but this was mine and Dee's first Daytona Beach trip. So, it took us a day or two to get our bearings on where vendors were set up and what
the "in" places to cruize were. We did all the hot stops, A1A, Main Street, the new Harley Davidson place at the I-95 & Hwy 1 crossing.
Thankfully, the weather held out. Wilma slowed down and decided to wait until Monday to hit Florida. In fact, we had gorgeous sunny skies
Thursday, Friday and Saturday. It was DANG hot and humid, though. Even in late October. It was an awesome trip which I won't waste too much
time trying to put into a narrative. The pictures speak for themselves, and there's a lot of them.
