This Biketoberfest Dee and I hit Main Street just the two of us. We didn't have a group with us so we were able to act like we were 10 years younger again,
hitting all the famous spots along Main St. at night like Dirty Harry's, Full Moon Saloon and Banks and Blues Club. We stayed at the Hilton one block off
the top of Main St. so we just walked down Main to party without having to worry about drinking and then riding the bike afterward. We had a great time
acting like wild and crazy hedonists. Dee blew my mind when she declared she was getting her bellybutton pierced... and she did!
Just like the freak cold snap in Myrtle Beach in '05, we seem to bring strange weather with us whenever we go to any bike event. The average temperature
for this time of year in Daytona Beach was highs of 74 degrees during the day. Well, for the four days we were there, the highs were in the low 90's,
hitting 92 on Friday and Saturday afternoon. It broke a high record for those days set back in 1928. Lucky us. Coupled with a lovely humidity of 90%,
the four days will best be remembered by two words... hot and sweaty.
But all in all it was a fun experience, despite the heat. We saw lots of great looking bikes, great looking people (and some really freaky ones, too)
and partied for several nights in a row like we hadn't a care in the world. Everybody should have a vacation like that every now and again.
